THE NCLEX!

It is usual for the majority of US client hospitals now to require a nurse pass the NCLEX before making an offer of employment and sponsoring a nurse for a greencard.

At Go RN International we assist many nurses on a daily basis with queries regarding the process of applying to a US Board of Nursing, often there is confusion as to which US board of nursing to apply through and the different requirements of each board. Each US state has their own Board of Nursing which has their own set criteria regarding exam applicants. The cost and requirements vary considerably between each board and nurses are often led to believe that they need to complete requirements such as CGFNS, CES, Visascreen and/or IETLS in order to be approved to sit the NCLEX. To help guide nurses completely through the process from choosing a suitable board of nursing to receiving their NCLEX results we have devised a tailor made NCLEX Assistance Program. This service is completely separate to our recruitment services, which are of course free. If you choose to only sign up to the NCLEX Assistance Program you are not obligated to Go RN International in any way. This program is tailor made to your needs and as long as you stay within the application validity period set by the board of nursing you are not under any pressure to sit the exam until you are completely ready. What's more... if you do choose to take-up our NCLEX Assistance we will refund your money in full if you go on to commence work with one of our US facilities.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is the NCLEX?

The NCLEX examination is a Computerised Adaptive Test that tests your nursing competency by asking a series of multiple choice questions. The test is designed to ensure that you have the knowledge, skills and abilities essential to the safe and effective practice of nursing.

Where can I sit the exam?

You can sit the NCLEX exam in any State or territory of the USA, Australia, Canada, Germany, Guam, Hong Kong, India, Japan, South Korea, Mexico, North Marina Islands, Philippines, Puerto Rico, Taiwan and United Kingdom.

Do I have to do anything before I apply for the exam?

Before you are able to sit your NCLEX examination you will be required to apply to a State Board of Nursing for a license. A US State Board of Nursing will review your training hours to ensure that they are compatible with American trained nurses. In order to meet US license requirements nurses must have undergone both clinical and theory hours in Medical, Surgical, Obstetrics, Paediatrics, and Psychiatry in their nurse training.

What happens when I am approved by the Board of Nursing?

Once your application has been approved by the Board of Nursing you will be 'made eligible' and able to register for the NCLEX examination, receive your 'Authority to Test' and schedule a date to sit the NCLEX exam.

When should I start to study for my exam?

Please note that most Boards of Nursing will take approximately 4-6 months to make you eligible to sit the NCLEX. You may wish to bear in mind that the preparation time for the NCLEX exam is approximately 4 months during which you need to fulfil 8-10 hours of study time each week. We would therefore advise that you embark on your study program as soon as your application has been filed with Go RN International Ltd to allow yourself the optimum study time possible.
